Switching back and forth?

Is there any simple way to switch back and forth between the Roslyn compiler and the previous compiler quickly, without having to uninstall/reinstall, possibly on a per-solution basis?

I have a lot of experimentation in mind, but also the occasional need to compile things in production, and only one machine to do it with...

You can launch Visual Studio in a different hive
devenv.exe /rootSuffix NoRoslyn
This has no extensions installed and will use the default compiler installed with Visual Studio.

Sounds good, thanks!

I'm unfortunately unfamiliar with Visual Studio hives - can I install duplicates of other extensions in the different hive without breaking the originals?

Absolutely, each new hive you create has completely separate settings and extensions from other hives.
